February 2008 Entries

April and I decided to take a trip up to the West Bend area to look for some houses.  We looked at 3 houses, and 1 of them we really liked.  The unfortunate thing is that we still have a house on the market.  Uncle Don, need a winter home??

I also got a new car on the way up to replace my Hyundai Santa Fe.  I got a new 2008 Hyundai Santa Fe.  It's a beautiful ride and has proven to be a fantastic car.  At the dealership, we got 2 free tickets to the Milwaukee Auto Show.  Neither of us have ever been to one.

Hyundai GenesisWe arrived in downtown Milwaukee for the show, and were in astonishment at the size of the building that housed the show.  It was located at the Midwest Airlines Center.  We saw all of the current cars from pretty much every manufacturer, including Ferrari, Bentley, Porsche, BMW, all of the domestic car companies, and several others.  We wanted to take a look at the new Hyundai Genesis, which is a preproduction luxury car that will be offered later this year.  See attached pictures.

Mark was offered a position at Gehl Company out of West Bend, Wisconsin.  Yes, that means that we are moving.  His new title is application engineer.

Mark's last day at Woods will be February 28 and he will then begin working at Gehl on March 3.  I am not sure exactly what I am doing but I will still work at Schlichting for at least those two weeks and we will see what happens from there.

We plan on buying a house in that area but most likely not in West Bend.  It is north of Milwaukee about 45 minutes.  We would prefer to be a little closer to Milwaukee just in case I have to work there.  That way we would be about halfway between West Bend and Milwaukee.

Obviously we are putting our house on the market.  So if you know anyone that is interested let us know.

I am very proud of Mark and I think that he is incredibly excited for this new opportunity.

IMG_0893Last weekend we went to Milwaukee's Mitchell Domes.  There are three domes in which one is arid, tropical, and floral.

The floral one had a few trains set up in between all of the different flowers.  IMG_0773

The arid one had many different types of cacti.  We were even able to see what the agave plant looks like.  The story behind the agave plant is that we made a mexican meal for Phil, Sue, Bill, and Tanya.  We got tequila and were wondering what it was made from.  We discovered that it was the agave plant but had never heard of it before.

IMG_0862The tropical dome, my favorite, had a banana plant, avocado tree, pomello tree (very similar to grapefruit), cocoa, and many other food plants and trees.

We took a lot of pictures so go here to check them out.

We also drove along the lake and other areas of Milwaukee, but did not take any pictures.
